An amazing day of filming 131-year-old documents that are key to Katsu Goto’s journey to Hawaii! Visit to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Archives. Received permission to film several key documents to the Katsu Goto film documentary a few months ago (lengthy process): Goto’s passport, registry as a contract laborer in 1885 and the Emigration Convention Kanyaku Imin (contract labor) proclamation signed by King Kalakaua and the Meiji government and other important documents. Special thank you to Hiroko Yagishita and Daisuke Yamashita of the Ministry for making this happen!
