Cast and crew meet at UH-Hilo Performing Arts Center

Exciting times for the film project! Thanks to the Humanities Division of the University of Hawaii at Hilo and the amazing Professor Jackie Johnson of the UH Hilo Performing Arts Department, we held our introductory meeting for the re enactments for the film documentary. Yes! UH Hilo students and community members will re enact key scenes, playing the parts of primary characters from 1889 in Katsu Goto’s history!

Friday, July 22, 2016, I briefly went over the history of Japan and Hawaii in 1889, the Meiji Period (1868-1912), background of the project, how it became a passion of mine and update on the documentary. The film’s Director, Danny Miller reviewed the key scenes we’ll be recreating and introduced Ami Wilson who will be helping as Assistant Director and Mark Lewis who will be helping as Camera Operator and with lighting and grip equipment. So thrilled to meet the actors who will play characters and so moved and touched by everyone’s interest, commitment and enthusiasm for the project! Stay tuned for the production days in August! Involves horses!
